THE ANCIENT SCROLLS
I turned to Sparx with a look of disapproval and said sarcastically, "And you said she would help us. So far I know no more then when we first got here."
"Correction, Ms. Fire. You know more then you did when you first came here." stated Elder Merci as she glided toward a podium where the strange book laid, and continued, "You did not know about Soul Hunter on your arrival and now you do. I would say that you do know more then what you perceived you did when arriving here."
"Yeah, just great." I started as I was growing more and more annoyed, "I know about a man, demon, thing, whatever it is that I’ve never seen before, let alone ever met. And I still don’t know a thing about the woman and why she seems so familiar to me. Not to mention this whole blood thing that this little mosquito seems to be freaking over. So um yeah, pardon me, your graceness, if I seem a bit bitchy."
Sparx zipped around frantically and if she wasn’t all white in the first place I would say that she had turned pale enough to almost faint. I stood there with my hands on my hips, half expecting Elder Merci to flip out on me for my rudeness but I didn’t care. Let her yell at me. Let her scream. Fuck it.
But she didn’t. Elder Merci simply looked at me and slightly nodded. If I didn’t know any better I’d say she was slightly smiling under her veil. I was a bit taken back by her lack-there-of reaction, as I watched her flip threw pages in the book.
"Now you’ve done it!" whispered Sparx sharply in my ear, to which I simply swatted her away with my hand.
"During the time of the Seven Births…" started Elder Merci, thumbing through the pages of this giant book, "…the high one created all that was good in all realms but by doing so realized things were unbalanced."
I looked confused but said nothing and continued to listen. I briefly looked over to Sparx whom apparently stopped zipping around and hovered silently in one spot, just above my left shoulder.
"The high one had no choice but to make things balance in all realms in order for all creation to exist. The high one created the evil that exists now within all realms…" continued Elder Merci without even glancing up, "…but knew that one day things could become unbalanced once again, which could threaten all existence in all realms. The high one created a prophecy. A prophecy that would repair all damage done but only with a great sacrifice, using the only source that would achieve this accomplishment…."
Before finishing her sentence, Elder Merci look up and starred deep into my eyes and finished, "…the high one’s own blood."
"It is written in the ancient scrolls that if for any reason the realms would become unbalanced, the prophecy would rise up from the travesty and abolish all that was unjust. You, Ms. Fire, are that prophecy."
