SOUL HUNTER
"Soul Hunter was once a living, like you Miss Fire…" started Elder Merci, only to be cut off by me.
"Ummm…yeah, excuse me here for a sec there Merci." I started as Sparx looked at me in disbelief that I would dare interrupt the elder, "but why would I need to know about some guy that I don’t know when I came here to find out about the woman I saw?"
"In order for you to understand the present, my dear, you must first understand that of the past to which became the present." replied Elder Merci and continued her story of this Soul Hunter guy.
"Soul Hunter was once a living by the name of Drake Ozington." Merci started, "He was considered to be what’s called a ‘natural’."
"A natural is a soul that does cruel things without the help of demons or pure good things. It could go either way." jumped in Sparx as if she was a student in some class trying to score brownie points with the teacher.
"Correct, Sparx." replied Elder Merci and continued the story as she waved her hand in front of the water again. With each part of his story and new image would appear in the water.
"Drake was unfortunately a natural toward the evil side. He stole, robbed, and conned other livings. But even he had his own limits. Of all the cruel deeds he tended to he would never bring himself to kill or rape. He could not have the heart to bring that much pain to a living."
"The dark guardian knew of Drake and was enlightened by his willingness to be so corruptive without the aid of a demon. It was evitable that Drake’s soul will enter into the realm of the cursed dead and the dark guardian sent out a plague demon to watch Drake in his corruptive deeds."
"Though Drakes soul was sure to end in the hands of the dark guardian, the dark guardian began to grow impatient from waiting for this unique soul to enter his realm. To hurry the process the dark guardian then sent forth a torture demon to trick Drake into his demise. The torture demon found Drake’s weaknesses and used them against Drake."
"Before long Drake fell into the trickery of the tortured demon and meet with a gruesome yet quick death. The image of a young child on the tracks as the 4:40 train started coming around the bend was the cause of his death. There was no child on the tracks that day. Only Drake saw her and in his attempt to save her from sure death, ended his."
"Shortly after, Drake stood before the dark guardian, confused. The dark guardian told Drake he will become his head demon and will serve him to carry out all his demands. He will carry out orders to the other lesser demons or he will suffer in the torturing darkness where he will relive the young child on the tracks for all eternity."
"Drake decided to agree with the dark guardian and therefore served as the head demon. It was then Drake took the name Soul Hunter. His main objective was to search out souls and send forth the necessary demons to corrupt that soul and send them to the cursed realm."
"Soul Hunter served for many years and ever loyal to the dark guardian until one day the dark guardian found a soul he wanted and sent Soul Hunter to do his bidding. Soul Hunter found the soul his master wanted and shuttered at the sight."
"The assigned soul was a young beautiful woman named Elizabeth Roths. Soul Hunter remembered her from his living time. She was the very woman that he as Drake was deeply in love with yet could not bring himself to speak to her before his death. He loved her from afar and did not have the courage to approach her."
"Soul Hunter refused to serve out his order to take her soul. This angered the dark guardian but the dark guardian was not going to be denied his chosen soul and set forth a tortured demon to the poor woman without Soul Hunter’s knowledge. When the dark guardian saw the opportunity that the young woman was about to take her life, he set a trap for Soul Hunter to punish him for his betrayal."
"The young woman was perched on the scaffolding of the city bridge, looking down at the busy highway below. Tears were racing down her face and to this day no one knows what the torture demon had tormented her with. Soul Hunter was too late to save her. Fighting through demons to get to her before leaping to her death. By the time he reached where she was once standing, she had already leapt. He looked over as saw her falling just before slamming into the asphalt below. Her tearful eyes showed so much pain and it was that image that will forever stay in Soul Hunters mind."
"Soul Hunter returned to the dark guardian, angry and wanting revenge but the dark guardian had other plans for Soul Hunter. The dark guardian knew that with Soul Hunter’s dark deeds in living and serving him, that Soul Hunter’s soul would never be allowed to enter the realm of light and banished Soul Hunter to forever wander the living realm for eternity for his betrayal to him."
"Soul Hunter was beaten and banished and wandered the living realm with a heavy heart and deep regrets. He knew that poor Elizabeth’s soul would never enter the realm of light, for she committed suicide and suicides never enter the realm of light. Those souls enter the realm of the cursed dead to forever be tortured in reliving their deaths over and over again. He knew this and knew that there was nothing he could do to save her from this. Soul Hunter decided he will have his revenge on the dark guardian and in hopes to eventually be allowed into the realm of light started destroying as many demons as he could."
"I bestowed upon Soul Hunter the Talisman Sword to help in his quest. I saw the goodness in his heart from before his death. Though he has committed unspeakable acts, I believe he will accomplish his difficult challenge."
"But what about the woman I saw? Where does she fit in in all this?" I interrupted again.
"The woman named Trap appeared shortly after Soul Hunter’s banishment and took over the head demon position but there is not much I can tell you of her. She now takes commands from the dark guardian and carries out all orders from him. I see a lot of darkness in her."
For some reason I felt as though the Elder Merci knew more about that woman then she was going to tell me.
Back in the cursed realm, Trap storms into her chamber, angry and furious from her encounter with Soul Hunter.
"How dare he lay his worthless hands upon me!" she yelled and with a quick flick of her wrist, poof a few demons turned to ash, "Does he not know who he is dealing with!"
Poof! Poof! Poof! More demons burst to ashes.
She stood there starring at the shuttering demons, thinking and quiet. Then as quickly as her rage came, it went and a calmness seem to engulf her.
"Well, if the dark guardian won’t dispose of this wandering rat," she grinned, "Then I will."
She left her chamber and went to a large cavern with an extended rock that reached out almost to the center of the room. Below was utter darkness and above was a few cages, each with a boney figure.
"The dark guardian is a fool. I know how to rid Soul Hunter and this pesky little bitch Gothic Fire, all at once." Trap started as she raised her hands high, "They will suffer greatly by MY hands and I will be praised by the dark guardian for my greatness!"
She raised her hands high and chanted.
"I call forth my chosen soul! Arise from your torture and serve me or forever stay in your own burden!" Trap yelled as a mist started to appear in the middle of the vast dark opening and echoing screams filled the cavern. Slowly a form appeared before her.
"You will serve me! You will do as you are bided to do. You will kill Gothic Fire!" Trap exclaimed as the figure knelt before her, "and you will rid this menacing Soul Hunter."
"Yes." spoke the figure as new clothes and weapons started appearing.
"Rise and carry out my demands! You are now…TORMENT!" Trap said with a sneer as she watched her assassin leave the cavern and in a snotty-like attitude finished, "This’ll be interesting."
